New Zealand shines in 2018 International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competitions

In front of a packed house at the International Culinary Centre Theatre in New York City Thursday evening EST, Curtis Cord, president of the New York International Olive Oil Competition, flanked by his judging panel, recognized the best olive oil producers in the world at a crowded press conference.

Over the course of four days this week, an esteemed international panel of expert olive oil tasters evaluated a collection of 651 oils from an entry of 1,000 from 25 countries among 24 categories. 

Olives New Zealand, the industry association for olive growers in New Zealand, entered the top winning oils from the 2017 New Zealand Extra Virgin Olive Oil Awards. We are delighted to announce that both Blue Earth Tuscan Blend and Juno Olives Picual won Gold Awards. Both of these olive groves are in the Wairarapa.

The New York International Olive Oil Competition is the world’s largest and most prestigious olive oil quality contest and New Zealand has again shown its ability to produce amongst the best Extra Virgin Olive Oil in the world, following on from two Gold Awards in 2017.

The Olive Japan International Extra Olive Oil Awards

Olive Japa International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition is one of the premier olive oil competitions in the world, bringing together the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in awarding medals to the best oils from around the globe.

This is the seventh year of OLIVE JAPAN International Competition, Japan as the one of the most important market for olive oil in the world. The judges are invited from key major olive oil production countries and Japan, under recommendation by the Olive Oil Sommelier Association of Japan.
