Cable Bay

Cable Bay Wine Ltd is committed to producing the highest quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) from our Grove
planted amongst our vines and adjacent to the Cable Bay Villa.

In 2018, the first year of significant production, our oil was awarded a GOLD Medal from Olives NZ.

Our grove consists of a number of olive varieties, including Koroneiki, Frantoio, Pendolino and J5 that thrive in our unique Waiheke environment. Many world class olive oils are produced here. Our twenty year old Waiheke Olive trees are exposed to the rigours of the southerly winds, challenging soil conditions, terrain and erratic rainfall. Despite all of this, these Greek and Italian varieties continue to thrive and are crafted with care to produce this high
quality oil.

“Green herbs and rocket flower on the nose with a palate with hints of pepper. A long, lingering finish”

We are delighted to present this golden gem to you. Purchase from our Cellar Door, RAW, Island Grocer, Waiheke Wine Centre.

n u m b e r 2 9

The n u m b e r 2 9 olive grove is situated in Church Bay on Waiheke Island, just a short ferry ride from Auckland city, New Zealand. The same poor soils that make Waiheke’s great wine, are also making our wonderful Extra Virgin Olive Oil. The grassy slopes, sunshine and gentle sea breezes are good for the olive trees and because the n u m b e r 2 9 grove is small, every care is taken in the growing and harvesting so that a premium blend is achieved.

n u m b e r 2 9 extra virgin olive oil is a boutique product only available at selected outlets and discerning restaurants. It is unfiltered, is Certified by Olives New Zealand as top quality EVOO, and is bottled in an elegant 250ml gift bottle with a distinctive grey and white label. It also is available in 100ml bottles and 1L and 2L oil boxes. It has won many awards, over the years and shows consistency and depth of flavour. Unfortunately, the olive grove is not open for visiting or tours.  We do not sell our    n u m b e r 2 9 EVOO at the gate but please contact us for a list of stockists.

Woodside Bay

Woodside Bay Olives has a grove of 200 olive trees on 12 acres of land situated on the southern side of Waiheke Island. The grove consists of several different varieties, primarily Koroneki, Verdale, Frantoia & J5. Due to our prime maritime location our trees are spray free.

Our Frantoia/Koroneki blend has won Gold & Best in Class three times at the New Zealand national olive oil awards and in 2019 we won Best in Show for all boutique producers.

The 2019 judges described our oil as:
‘Floral and fragrant, transfers well to the palate, well balanced bitterness and pungency with a warm and peppery finish’

Now the New York world olive oil competition, held in May each year, has awarded our oil the 2020 Gold Medal. This is the world’s largest and most prestigious olive oil contest, and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the world’s best extra virgin olive oils.

You can visit our website which covers both our oil and our luxury accommodation and you can purchase the oil directly from us or at selected stores on Waiheke Island.
