Paul Holmes also followed up with an article in the Herald on Saturday 19th. You can read this at:

Easy solution Buy New Zealand olive oil end of subject.
Absolutely! Look for the red OliveMark and the Best Before date. The OliveMark signifies the oil has passed the stringent NZ EVOO tests and also meets packaging and labelling requirements.
What about the australian olive oils.? we heard that the european oils were not good andyou recommended the nz olive oil, but no mention of australian.
The Australian oils also passed all the tests.
I couldnt quite understand on Fair Go which olive oil came out the best taste on fair go.Can you please advise me which NZ olive oil rated highest with the tasting panel. Thanks
The Panel said that 100% Kiwi was the best they tasted from those tested.
Olivesnz,Fairgo, Progressive Enterprises and Aussie sensory judges are doing a great job promoting 2 buck chuck bulk oil from Aussie Queensland fruitfly infested supergroves. After the great fireblight apple saga you must know, surely?? that Aussies don’t like kiwi antioxidants/polyphenols. But don’t worry she’ll be apples and NZ olive growers will continue to play 2nd fiddle to cheap imports no matter where they are from.Keep up the good work!
That is the challenge for all of us – to educate the public about buying genuine EVOO and putting pressure on the supermarkets to stop stocking mislabelled oils. This is a work in progress.
I read recipes smetimes they mentioned extra virgin olive oil. What difference does that make? Can I just use olive oil?
Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the premium quality of olive oil. It must meet strict standards to be classified as EVOO and has associated health benefits. Look for the red OliveMark on NZ olive oils to ensure you are buying the genuine product, as many imported olive oils are mis-labelled.
